Privacy policy

Effective 16 September 2026. BakkiesSA (bakkiessa.co.za) is operated by Gro Digital, a South African business, and is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect and why

Seller listings: name, phone, email and vehicle details, so buyers can contact you. Contact details are hidden until a buyer chooses to reveal them.
Enquiries and finance requests: name, phone, email and your message or deal details, to respond to you. Finance requests are shared with one vetted finance partner only when you tick the box saying so.
Usage data: anonymous, per-browser identifiers and page events (views, clicks, referring site) to understand how the site is used. We use Plausible (cookieless) and Google Analytics.
Aggregated listings: vehicle listings from public platforms, including dealer names. We do not collect private sellers' contact details from other platforms.

Consent

Every form that captures your details has an unticked consent box explaining exactly what you agree to. We record when and where you consented. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us; every marketing message includes an unsubscribe.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it for us (hosting in Fly.io's Johannesburg region, email delivery, image storage), with a finance partner where you have asked us to, and where the law requires.

Retention and security

Seller and enquiry details are kept for as long as the listing or conversation is active and for a reasonable period after, then deleted or anonymised. Data is stored encrypted at rest and in transit.

Your rights

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to processing. Contact our Information Officer at info@bakkiessa.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforeg.org.za.
